According to Icelandic law, foreign workers from EEA who intend to work as crafts and tradesmen in Iceland are obligated to have their vocational education recognized in Iceland. The application for recognition is submitted to Fræðsluskrifstofa rafiðnaðarins for electricians and to IÐAN Educational Center for other trades.
Individuals with foreign vocational education can request a recognition of their qualifications in Iceland. The recognition only covers professions that are regulated. Here is list of such professions.
Act No. 26/2010 on recognition of professional qualifications for the pursuit of an activity in Iceland applies to recognition of qualifications of citizens within EEA.
Applications for recognition of foreign vocational education is to be filled out and submitted with supporting documents.
